| APPG-TB new tools meeting |
|
Dr Geoff Coxon has been invited to represent TBD-UK at a "new tools" APPG-TB meeting at the House of Commons on the 23rd June. Dr Coxon will be speaking and presenting on behalf of the UKs response to discover and develop new TB drugs. The audience will include other TB advocates, TB scientists in the field of diagnostics and vaccine research and DFID officials. The meeting will be chaired by Andrew George MP and will also be attended by other MPsand peers across the political spectrum. The aim of the meeting is to give an overview of TB drug therapy, the current status of new drugs and the UKs response from TBD-UK. The meeting represents the first of a series focusing on the UKs impact in developing new tools progressing from the publication of the recent consultation document (link here) for DFID which is now being used to help DFID in their policy making decisions. Dr Coxon is engaged with the APPG-TB in organising a new drugs round table meeting at the House of Commons later in the year. Details will be posted on the website when available. |
