On the 14th of April 2011, Dr Geoff Coxon was invited by Cathy Jamieson MP to speak on behalf of TBD-UK at a meeting focusing on International Development issues. The event was chaired by Lord Des Browne and Dr Coxon took the opportunity to explain why research into new TB drugs is so vital and why DFID needs to support UK efforts in TB drug development.
The photo enclosed below was taken at the event and shows Anas Sarwar MP holding a small bag representing the number of tablets a patient would take on a typical course of antibiotics over a week. The larger bag held by Cathy Jamieson MP was used by Dr Coxon to demonstrate how many tablets a TB patient would take over a 6 month period.
